City To Assist With Bulk Item Trash Removal


The City of Mishawaka has created a program to assist residents with the removal of large bulk items under the current trash contract with Republic Services. This two-week program will begin on Monday, April 27, 2020 and run through Friday, May 8, 2020.

Three options are available to be used by residents of Mishawaka. In some cases, proof of residency will be required.

Curbside Pickup

  1. Residents are to call Central Services at (574) 258-1660 with the address and list of items to be picked up.
  2. Items should be placed in an open area away from vehicles or other objects.
  3. We will make every attempt to follow the current trash removal schedule. As there is only one vehicle to perform these pickups, it will be a slow process.
  4. Once you items are picked up, we will not return for further pickups until a complete rotation throughout the City is done and then only if time allows.
  5. The following items WILL NOT be picked up...
    1. Paints, solvents, fertilizers or other Household Hazardous Waste
    2. Light builbs of any type
    3. Batteries of any type
    4. Electronic Devices such as TVs, radios, microwaves, computers, etc.
    5. Any appliance that has coolant in the system: refigerators, freezers, air conditioners, etc.

 

Drop-Off Center

The City of Mishawaka, in partnership with Republic Services, will provide dumpsters for residents of Mishawaka to bring bulk items for drop off.

  1. Proof of residency is required.
    1. Valid Driver's license or State ID with current address.
    2. Utility bill with current address.
  2. Location for drop off will be 1105 E. Fifth St in Mishawaka. Residents should use the gate located on E. Seventh St off of S. Byrkit Ave.
  3. Hours of Operation will be from 7:30am to 7:00pm Monday through Friday.
  4.  Residents are responsible for the unloading of items brought in.
  5. During this two week period, we will be accepting yard waste & brush.
  6. The following items WILL NOT be picked up...

Transfer Center

Items should be brought to the Transfer Center on the day of your normal trash day - Republic Services will accept Mishawaka residents free of charge beginning April 20th. The Green Tech transfer center is operated by Republic Services. Please call in advance with questions concerning items accepted, hours of operation and required Personal Protective Equipment.

  1. Republic Services will be waiving fees for Mishawaka residents at their transfer station located at: 2500 Green tech Dr, South Bend, In. 46613 PH: 574-232-2500
  2. Hours-8am to 3pm for this service
  3. Please follow the arrows as there are trucks coming in and out
  4. Proof of residency is required to have fees waived

    2. Utility bill with current address.
