DEFINITION: |
Day Camp Director will be responsible for leading summer day camp programming and reports directly to Director of Special Events and Activities and the Director of the Battell Community Center. |
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: |
|
- Provide opportunities for the group so that each individual experiences success while at camp
- Encourage respect for personal property, camp equipment and facilities
- Guide counselors and campers in participating successfully in all aspects of camp activities
- Observe camper behavior, assess its appropriateness, implementing positive discipline when required and communicating to parent/guardians regarding behavioral issues while at camp
- Enforce safety regulations
- Planning, operations and direct supervision of camp programs, activities, procedures and policies
- Supervision of camp staff, including creating and managing programing, disciplining, delegating daily tasks and reporting to superiors
- Assist Parks Directors with field trips, guest speakers and t-shirt distribution
- Planning and preparation of weekly activities and material
- Program assessment and development – we are looking to create a day camp we are proud of

QUALIFICATIONS: |
|
- A degree-seeking or earning student interested in learning on the job training relating to the field of tourism, events management, leisure studies, recreation, communication, psychology, sociology, environmental studies, or a related field
- Proven experience to lead, manage programs, and volunteers.
- Strong oral and written communication skills required
- Valid driver’s license
- Alcohol and Tobacco Employee Permit.
- First Aid, CPR, AED Certification-Adult and Child (offered)
