Salvation Army Red Kettle Ring-Off - Dec. 3

Tuesday December 3, 2019, also known as "Giving Tuesday", is the date for the annual Salvation Army Red Kettle Ring-Off Challenge between the City of Mishawaka and the City of South Bend for the Red Kettle Trophy. Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood, City Clerk Deb Block, Police Chief Ken Witkowski, and Mishawaka Schools Superintendent Wayne Barker, along with City of Mishawaka employees and School City of Mishawaka employees will be ringing the bell throughout the day. Donations for this event will be accepted from 9:00am-6:30pm at the Indian Ridge Walmart in Mishawaka. Donations for the competition can also be dropped off tomorrow at the Mayor’s Office in City Hall from 8:30am to 4:45pm.

HPC Honors POW Capt. Richard Brenneman

UPDATED -- On Veteran’s Day, Mishawaka's Historic Preservation Commission held an unveiling of the Captain Richard C Brenneman Historic Marker at 1801 E. Third Street. Placement of the marker was to recognize Captain Brenneman’s 5+ years spent in a POW camp during the Vietnam War. Mr. Brenneman, who retired from the Air Force in 1993, was onhand for the celebration.

Ironworks Plaza At Beutter Park Groundbreaking Ceremony

The City of Mishawaka will have a ground-breaking ceremony for the Ironworks Plaza on Monday July 15th at 1pm at Beutter Park. The current phase of the project includes a Biergarten, restrooms, parking, and significant utility work to allow for future construction phases. Funding for the 6-million-dollar investment is coming from the City’s Consolidated Tax Increment Financing District along with $114,000 of Regional Cities funding that was previously approved by the South Bend-Elkhart Regional Development Authority.
