HISTORY
|
Built in 1900, the east portion of the building functioned as Battell Elementary School with the west portion being added in 1920. The east end was eventually converted into apartments owned and operated by the Mishawaka Housing Authority. Purchasing the facility for $1.00 in 1982, the City of Mishawaka turned the west end into a community center which has become a thriving place for classes, recreation, theater, music and other art-related activities.
