"Cool Your Engines" Back To School Safety Campaign


Mayor David A. Wood and Mishawaka School Superintendent Dr. Dean Speicher will hold a news conference on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. to announce Project “School’s Open - Cool Your Engines” in preparation for the opening of local schools. The news conference will be held in front of Emmons Elementary School, 1306 S. Main St. in Mishawaka.

Joining Mayor Wood and Superintendent Speicher will be Mishawaka Police Chief Ken Witkowski, Assistant Chief Jason Stefaniak, School Resource Officers Lt. Tim Williams, Pfc. Steve Madison, Pfc. Bruce Faltynski, and Pfc. Nate DeVreese; Capt. Robert Reppert and Sgt. Mark Flemming of the Mishawaka Community Relations Unit along with the representatives from the Mishawaka Fire Department.

Safety information and suggestions for motorists and students will be available at the news conference as well. The Mishawaka Fire Department will also be displaying “Cool Your Engines” signs on their fire trucks during School Zone Safety Week.
