Incumbent serves as Group 3 Operator for the Mishawaka Parks and Recreation Department, responsible for performing manual labor and facility, grounds, and street maintenance and repairs using various light equipment and power/hand tools.
DEBERES:
Performs facility maintenance, including, but not limited to, cleaning City-owned facilities, light maintenance work, and interior and exterior painting.
Performs grounds maintenance, including, but not limited to, mowing, weed control, mixing and apply fertilizers and weed control liquids, maintenance of trees/shrubs, and landscaping.
Performs road maintenance, including, but not limited to, patching holes, crack sealing, paving crews, picking up dead animals, and removing debris from right of way and inlet surfaces. May assist in traffic painting and sign repairs, leaf pickup, and snow removal.
Performs traffic control, including, but not limited to, setting up barricades, directing traffic, and setting up portable signs.
Operates light/medium equipment and vehicles in performance of duties.
Cleans and maintains equipment.
Works at recycling facility as required.

I. HABILIDADES Y CONOCIMIENTOS:
High school diploma or HSE.
Debe tener al menos 18 años de edad.
Ability to meet all hiring requirements including passage of a drug screening.

Working knowledge of and ability to apply practices and procedures of maintenance and repair of facilities, grounds, and streets.
Working knowledge of standard English grammar, spelling, and punctuation, with ability to read instructions/work orders.
Ability to properly operate various light/medium equipment and hand/power tools, including but not limited to mop, broom, shovel, rake, chain saw, mowers, tractors, weed whips, ice resurfacers, hand sprayers, trailers, vehicles, paint sprayers, pressure washers, portable cleaning systems, floor cleaners/buffers, floor sweepers, air compressors, air hammers, snow blowers, power tampers, barricades, traffic control equipment, and other equipment as needed.
Ability to physically perform essential duties of the position, including standing/walking for long periods, walking on uneven terrain, lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling objects weighing more than 50 pounds, handling/grasping/fingering objects, crouching/kneeling, bending/reaching, driving, close/far vision, color/depth perception, hearing sounds/communication, and speaking clearly. Effort is exerted regularly, strain may be intense, and moderate physical dexterity is required.
Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with co-workers, other City/County/ State departments and agencies, and the public, including being sensitive to professional ethics, gender, cultural diversities, and disabilities.

II. RESPONSABILIDAD:
Incumbent performs a variety of duties, with work schedules and priorities determined by supervisor. Assignments are guided by definite objectives using a variety of methods/procedures.
Assignments follow standard operating procedures or policies and procedural manuals, and employee must have supervisor’s permission to deviate. Incumbent has little flexibility in the job.
Incumbent reports directly to Division supervisor.

IV. LAS CONDICIONES DE TRABAJO:
Incumbent performs a majority of duties in a vehicle, garage, and outdoors, involving working in wet/icy surroundings and extreme hot/cold temperatures, working near chemicals and fumes/odors/dust/dirt, noise, vibrations, and possibly dangerous conditions. Safety precautions must be followed at all times, including wearing protective clothing or equipment.
V. POOL MAINTENANCE DUTIES:
Pool maintenance worker skilled in municipal pool and ice rink operation.
