City of Mishawaka to Break Ground on Miracle League Park at Normain Park

Mishawaka, IN – 9/24/25– The City of Mishawaka, in partnership with community leaders, donors, and local advocates, will officially break ground on the highly anticipated Mishawaka Miracle League Park at Normain Park. This transformative project represents a major milestone for the community, creating the first fully inclusive recreational space of its kind in the State of Indiana.

The Miracle League Field will provide children and adults with physical and developmental disabilities the opportunity to play baseball in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. More than a ballfield, the project is designed to foster deep friendships, create lasting memories, and ensure that everyone—regardless of age or ability—can experience the joy of sports and recreation.

In addition to the Miracle League Field, the park will feature:

• A fully inclusive playground
• A splash pad
• Accessible restrooms
• A Sona Arch interactive play structure
• A softball field
• Pavilions and sensory areas

Mayor Dave Wood praised the project as “a testament to Mishawaka’s commitment to accessibility and community. Miracle Park will serve as a place of hope, joy, and belonging, ensuring that every child and every family has the opportunity to participate fully in the life of our community.”

The groundbreaking ceremony will conclude with children and community partners helping to ceremonially dig the first shovelfuls of soil—symbolizing a future built together, for everyone.
