On Tuesday, August 4th, 2026, from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, the Mishawaka Police Department invites the community to participate in the 2026 National Night Out Event at Merrifield Park (Castle Manor).
National Night Out is an annual nationwide event for local cities and communities to celebrate working together in making their towns a safe and enjoyable place to live, work and visit.
The City of Mishawaka Police Department thrives in ensuring the National Night Out values are upheld in their community. The MPD is actively working every day to build community relationships with law enforcement, build safer environments, and protect their Mishawaka community.
“It’s always a great thing to be able to go to these public events where we can interact with the citizens.” states Mishawaka Police Chief Alex Arendt.
“It brings a comfort level of what we can provide to them, so they know that we’re here as a resource. At the end of the day, we are partners here with our community. We want to be approachable to the children and citizens alike so we can provide the best service.”
Featured at National Night Out are free enjoyable activities! Provided through donations from our amazing community partners and the Mishawaka Parks and Recreation, guests can enjoy hot dogs and chips (while supplies last), Kona Ice, bounce houses, various activities and games, giveaways, and Police vehicles and public safety displays.
Guests can also utilize community resources, information, and free items from neighborhood watch groups, businesses, nonprofits, and local agencies.
National Night Out is an amazing way for the Mishawaka Police Department and the community to interact. There will be an activity for everyone to enjoy. Bring the family to spend the evening getting to know the people and organizations working every day to keep the City of Mishawaka a protected and welcoming community!
