
The Mishawaka Fire Department is proud to announce that EMS Officer Bill Conyers has been named the 2025 Indiana EMS Officer of the Year by the Indiana Fire Chief’s Association. He was formally recognized and presented with the award at the IFCA Awards Banquet on Tuesday, September 17th.
With more than 40 years of EMS experience, Bill has dedicated his life to serving patients, mentoring providers, and advancing pre-hospital care. He brings a rare combination of deep knowledge, calm leadership, and unwavering professionalism to every call and every classroom. As the lead instructor for Mishawaka Fire Department’s EMT classes, Bill has shaped the foundation of EMS education for countless members of our department. His commitment to excellence ensures that every new provider enters the field prepared to deliver the highest standard of care.
Beyond teaching, Bill’s leadership extends to every corner of our operations. Whether he is refining protocols, guiding medics on scene, or mentoring the next generation of EMS leaders, Bill consistently raises the bar for those around him. In a department that has experienced significant generational change in recent years, his steady presence and decades of wisdom provide both stability and inspiration.
