Mishawaka Plan Commission to Consider Next Step in 100 Center Redevelopment

The City of Mishawaka Plan Commission will meet on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. to consider a proposal involving the partial demolition of a portion of the 100 Center building as part of the site’s broader redevelopment plan.

This request represents an important next step in advancing the long-term vision for the 100 Center property, a key gateway corridor along the St. Joseph River and a strategic redevelopment opportunity for the City.

In December 2024, the City of Mishawaka was awarded a $5.64 million READI grant from the State of Indiana to support the transformation of the 100 Center site. That investment laid the foundation for a comprehensive redevelopment effort aimed at revitalizing the area, enhancing connectivity, and creating new opportunities for economic growth and community engagement.

The proposed demolition is a targeted and necessary component of that larger plan, allowing for improved site design, modernized infrastructure, and the ability to fully realize the redevelopment vision for the property.

Mayor Dave Wood emphasized the importance of continued progress on the project:

“This is another meaningful step forward in bringing new life to the 100 Center corridor. With the support of the READI program and the continued collaboration of our Plan Commission, Council, and community partners, we are positioning this area for long-term success. This project reflects our commitment to thoughtful redevelopment that honors our past while building for the future.”

The Plan Commission’s review will focus on the proposed demolition plan and its alignment with the overall redevelopment strategy. Materials related to the proposal, including site plans, will be available for public review as part of the meeting agenda.

The City encourages residents, stakeholders, and interested parties to attend the meeting or follow along as the redevelopment process continues to move forward.
