Restoration Update: Power Returning to Key Areas in Mishawaka

In the wake of Sunday’s unprecedented storm, we are encouraged to report significant progress in restoring power throughout our Mishawaka community. Our dedicated teams at Mishawaka Utility Electric (MUE) and our mutual aid partners from Hoosier Edison and Bancroft have been working tirelessly to bring power back to our residents. We are pleased to announce that power has been restored in several critical areas, including Hums School, the neighborhoods surrounding MHS, communities off 12th Street, and throughout Reverewood to name just a few.  We are pleased to report that the vast majority of the 10,000 that lost power in Mishawka due to Sunday’s storm now have their power restored.

After the immediate danger of the storm subsided, our linemen quickly mobilized to assess the damage, begin repairs, and work diligently to restore power to everyone affected. In times when many are forced us to take cover and hope for the best after the devastating storm, our linemen—from across Indiana and throughout the country—step forward to repair damages after a powerful storm. Their commitment and expertise have been the cornerstone of our recovery efforts.

Thank-a-Lineman

We want to take a moment to extend our heartfelt gratitude to these everyday heroes. Linemen face some of the most dangerous working conditions in the nation. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, electrical line workers rank among the top ten most dangerous jobs in the United States, risking falls, electric shocks, burns, and other hazards on a daily basis. Despite these challenges, modern safety equipment, rigorous training, and strict testing standards have enhanced their protection—but the work remains inherently dangerous.

We are deeply thankful for the outstanding leadership and teamwork exhibited by our MUE crews, the Hoosier Edison and Bancroft teams. Their relentless efforts and professional expertise are ensuring that our community recovers swiftly and safely.

We remain dedicated to restoring power to all affected areas and will continue to update you as our work progresses. Thank you for your ongoing patience and support during this recovery period.
