The Mishawaka Police Department’s National Night Out was a huge success. Thank you to all the Mishawaka members who attended National Night Out! National Night Out was on Tuesday, August 5th, 2025. The event took place from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm at Merrifield Park, 1000 East Mishawaka Avenue 46544.
Held annually on the first Tuesday of August, National Night Out is a nationwide campaign to honor the connection between Police Officers and the community.
This year’s National Night Out had an incredible show out. Despite the rain, the Mishawaka Police Department were present for the event, and so was the community.
“It’s always a great thing to be able to go to these public events where we can interact with the citizens.” states Mishawaka Police Chief Alex Arendt. “It brings a comfort level of what we can provide to them, so they know that we’re here as a resource. At the end of the day, we are partners here with our community. We want to be approachable to the children and citizens alike so we can provide the best service.”
There were a multitude of vendors and MPD vehicles and gear to interact with. Present at NNO were SWAT and patrol cars, motorcycles, and Mishawaka Fire Department vehicles. Varies vendors from all over were featured as well.
The Mishawaka Police Department were honored to celebrate National Night Out with the community. Sharing those memories is important to the MPD because it is a way for them to showcase their unwavering loyalty and dedication to the residents of Mishawaka. It is also a way for the community to recognize a friendly face if they ever need the MPD’s support. Having these strong ties to the community makes for a safer City and community.
