Cedar Street Bridge Will Be Open By The End Of Business Day, Friday, August 15th!

The bridge on South Cedar St, Mishawaka, IN 46544, will be open to traffic by the end of Friday, August 15th, 2025.

However, this project is not quite finished. Work will continue under and by the Mishawaka Riverwalk extension.

The Mishawaka construction team has been working diligently on this project. While over the past few weeks, it has looked like the bridge was complete from the top, there were still multiple concrete pours under the bridge needing a pumper truck and the bridge for access. There are a few more remaining concrete sections that can be completed reaching from Edgewater lieu of the bridge itself.

Landscaping and fencing also need to be completed under the bridge, as well as final path and street lighting, and the new pedestrian crossing flasher. Work along the new portion of the Riverwalk also has more work to complete, so, that area will remain closed for now.

The bridge will open with temporary lighting awaiting final lighting’s manufacturing and delivery with installation estimated to occur later this year. The bridge will again need to be temporarily closed for approximately a week to allow these final changes to occur.

As for the pedestrian crossing flasher, there will be temporary signage on the pole awaiting the actuator and flasher which is estimated to be delivered in late September. This installation will not require bridge closure.

This is a Federal Aid Project, which creates a longer process than if it were solely City funded. Meaning, if small issues arise, it takes longer to navigate through them, and construction always has something.

This contract by the State process has an estimated finishing date in November 2025. Thank you, citizens of Mishawaka, for all your patience and understanding as the staff at Mishawaka work for the improvement of quality of life surrounding the Cedar Street Bridge. Please allow the contractor the space to complete the construction in the closed areas.
