Within minutes, the Mishawaka Fire Department arrived at the scene to prevent a potentially dangerous situation. In attendance as well was Kevin McGann, Mishawaka Utilities Electric Departments Assistant Manager. McGann worked quickly to turn the power grid off.
“It was a very frightening situation for us, and we want to thank everyone involved.” states the owner of the property where the incident occurred. “The MFD for their fast response and calming and reassuring presence, and MU for their quick and reliable response.”
In just four hours, the power lines were repaired, and the power was back on.
By Tuesday morning on July 1S t, the Electric Department crew visited the property to dig up the glass and debris left behind. Lead by Shane Reynolds, the Electric Department cleared the debris, which was “enough to fill a wheelbarrow,” states the property residents.
“Special thanks to the Douglas Rd firefighters, Kevin McGann, Shane, and all the crew members that responded. Everyone was friendly, reassuring and very professional, with safety first in everyone’s minds.” states the property residents.
