MPD Officer of the Year, 2024 \u2013 Lt. Bruce Faltynski<\/strong><\/p>\n

It is with great pride and sincere appreciation that we recognize Lieutenant Bruce Faltynski of the Mishawaka Police Department as our 2024 Officer of the Year.<\/p>\n

Lt. Faltynski is the driving force behind the Community Relations Unit, serving not only as its leader, but, in many ways, its heart and sole operator. As a true one-man show, Lt. Faltynski wears many hats \u2014 often all at once \u2014 and continually demonstrates a deep commitment to both the department and the community.<\/p>\n

The Community Relations Unit under Lt. Faltynski\u2019s leadership is a specialized enforcement and support unit that handles neighborhood complaints, assists uniform patrol, supports detectives, traffic, and street crimes operations \u2014 while also being the face of the department in countless community-focused initiatives.<\/p>\n

He organizes and manages essential public outreach efforts including Neighborhood Watch meetings, National Night Out events, department tours, pill drop take-back programs, and various civic engagements that help bridge the gap between law enforcement and the public. These are not just events \u2014 they are opportunities for connection, trust, and community building, and Lt. Faltynski ensures they are meaningful and effective.<\/p>\n

He also supervises the Citizens in Alliance with Police (CAPs) program and oversees all School City of Mishawaka crossing guards, reinforcing his role in community safety from our youngest pedestrians to our most engaged residents.<\/p>\n

Lt. Faltynski works hand-in-hand with Mishawaka Code Enforcement, Zoning, and Engineering to address pressing quality of life issues \u2014 from nuisance properties and vacant structures, to preventing trespassing and ensuring neighborhoods remain safe and vibrant.<\/p>\n

Additionally, he plays a vital role in enforcing city ordinances related to Nuisance Properties, collaborating closely with the City Attorney\u2019s Office and Corporate Counsel to uphold the standards our residents expect and deserve.<\/p>\n

His dedication, initiative, and tireless work ethic make him not only a standout officer but a true community partner.<\/p>\n

This week, but we honored Lt. Bruce Faltynski for his unwavering service, leadership, and commitment to making Mishawaka a safer, stronger, and more connected community.<\/p>\n
