City of Mishawaka and Regional Partners Sign MOU to Support Water, Sewer Service and Wastewater Expansion for Microsoft Data Center and Northeast Corridor
The City of Mishawaka Board of Public Works and Safety, the Mishawaka Utility Board, the St. Joseph County Board of Commissioners, the St. Joseph County Water and Sewer District, and Granger Water, LLC have formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), marking an important step toward collaborative planning and infrastructure development in northeastern St. Joseph County.
At this time, the parties collectively desire to work together to address the long-term needs associated with providing public sewer, water, and wastewater services to this growing region, including support for the Microsoft Data Center project.
Shared Vision for Regional Growth
This partnership recognizes that development in the northeast corridor demands forward-thinking solutions and a coordinated approach to infrastructure planning. The MOU outlines a joint effort to:
-
Prepare an agreed-upon service territory map for sanitary sewer and water services.
-
Collaborate on infrastructure planning to serve as many users as practical in the region.
-
Support economic development by ensuring critical services are in place for high-impact projects like the Microsoft Data Center.
Commitment to Regional Cooperation
Mayor Dave Wood emphasized the importance of this milestone:
“This MOU reflects our commitment to work collaboratively with our partners to ensure that Mishawaka and the entire northeast corridor are prepared for sustainable growth. By aligning our infrastructure planning today, we are investing in the economic vitality and quality of life of our region for decades to come.”
As development continues to accelerate, this collaborative framework will enable Mishawaka and its partners to provide efficient, reliable, and cost-effective services while ensuring responsible planning for the future.
