City of Mishawaka Honors New Fire Chief Jester and Celebrates the Service of Chief Woodward
The City of Mishawaka recently recognized both new leadership and a distinguished career in public safety during a meeting of the Mishawaka Board of Public Works and Safety.
At the meeting, City leaders and staff honored MFD Chief Jester, the newly appointed leader of the Mishawaka Fire Department, and celebrated the upcoming retirement of MFD Chief Woodward, whose service to the community will officially conclude on February 13, 2026.
Chief Jester was recognized for stepping into the role with professionalism, dedication, and a strong commitment to continuing the Department’s tradition of excellence. City officials expressed confidence in his leadership and praised his focus on teamwork, training, and service to residents.
“Chief Jester has already demonstrated the values and work ethic that define the Mishawaka Fire Department,” said City leaders during the meeting. “We look forward to his leadership as he guides the Department into its next chapter.”
At the same time, the City paid tribute to Chief Woodward for his many years of faithful service and outstanding leadership. Throughout his career, Chief Woodward has been known for his steady guidance, deep commitment to firefighter safety, and dedication to protecting the people of Mishawaka.
Under his leadership, the Department strengthened training standards, improved operational readiness, and continued its proud tradition of professionalism and community service. Colleagues and City staff thanked Chief Woodward for leaving the Department stronger than he found it and for setting a high standard for those who follow.
