Mishawaka Utilities Electric Division Sends Crew for Mutual Aid in Response to Hurricane Helene

Mishawaka, IN – September 25, 2024 – The City of Mishawaka and Mishawaka Utilities are proud to announce that our electric division is sending a crew of five dedicated team members and two utility trucks as part of a mutual aid effort to assist in the response to Hurricane Helene. The crew will first stage in Valdosta, Georgia, and then be deployed to areas in Florida expected to be impacted by the storm.

As always, the safety and well-being of communities are our top priority, whether at home in Mishawaka or when helping others in times of need. Our team is prepared to provide assistance in restoring power and infrastructure in the aftermath of the hurricane, ensuring those affected can return to normalcy as quickly as possible. Mutual aid is a long-standing tradition among municipal utilities, and we are proud to support our neighbors in the Southeast as they brace for Hurricane Helene.

“The City of Mishawaka takes great pride in our dedicated utility crews. Their willingness to step up during times of crisis is a testament to their professionalism, skill, and commitment to serving others,” said Mayor Dave Wood. “We wish them a safe journey and thank them for representing Mishawaka with excellence as they head south to support the recovery efforts.”

Mishawaka Utilities has a strong history of providing mutual aid, and we stand ready to support our fellow communities in their time of need. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and stay in communication with our team to ensure their safety throughout the process.
