A new historical marker has been placed at 127 W Twelfth Street to honor Remo Belli. Remo was born in the home in 1927 and graduated from Mishawaka High School in the class of 1945.
After service in the U.S. Navy, we moved to California to pursue his career as a drummer. He founded Remo, Inc, creating the Weather King synthetic drum head.
Remo died in 2016, and the sign was unveiled on June 22nd, 2022, which would have been Remo’s 95th birthday. His sister, Elsie (Belli) VanBruaene, along with other friends and family, attended the ceremony, which included a performance by the Mishawaka High School drumline.
