JOB TITLE – GENERAL MAINTENANCE C

DEFINICIÓN
To perform general mechanical and semiskilled labor in the operation, maintenance and repair of equipment, machinery, structures, well fields operations center and water treatment plants. Reports to and accepts assignments from the Maintenance Supervisor, although may be directed by any Water Division supervisor as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Must be able to use safety equipment listed below when climatic or work conditions prevail:
1. Hand tools and power tools
2. Chlorine, fluoride, linear polyphosphate pumps, and flow meters
3. Charts recorders
4. Gauges
5. Plant machinery
6. High service pumps

9. Calculator
10. Lawn mower
11. Hand Tools
12. Weed Whip
13. Chain Saw
14. Floor Sweeper
15. Floor Scrubber
16. For Lift
17. Scissor lift
LOCACIÓN DE TRABAJO
General Maintenance C will perform work at the water treatment facilities, well fields, water towers, ground storage, vaults, or any extension of the network or as assigned by the Water Division Maintenance Supervisor. The position will include physical activity and could entail toxic and other hazards.
REQUERIMIENTOS FÍSICOS
Must be able to endure physical activity. Lift a minimum of 75 pounds. Climb Water Towers. Negotiate confined spaces (such as vaults, pits, etc.). Work in all weather and cover steep embankments. Wear approved safety shoes or boots.
CONDICIONES AMBIENTALES/TRABAJO:
Must be able to work alone. Must be able to perform duties inside or outside in all weather conditions, which may include rain, sleet, and snow, extremely hot or very cold, very humid, dusty, noisy, dirty, and windy. Must be able to work around heavy machinery, moving objects, chemicals and corrosives, cramped quarters, confined entry spaces, high places, excavated holes, and ditches. Must be able to walk on all terrain (wet or dry). Must be able to work around obstacles such as pallets, storage racks, vehicles, and railings. Must be able to work during high pollen and mold spore count days. Must be able to work around all types of animals and insects. Must be able to use a facial respirator air mask in some confined spaces. Must be able to work in daylight or low light conditions at night, inside and outside.
CONOCIMIENTOS Y HABILIDADES REQUERIDOS:
Must work in a professional manner with employees, customers, State and Federal personnel and the public in a mature and tactful manner. Must have a sufficient knowledge of water treatment and dexterity to use equipment listed in “C,” which may not include all items. If assigned, will attend seminars and/or convention workshops or trade schools, to update skills to keep abreast of changing technology.
CALIFICACIONES:
1. Must possess a High School diploma or GED
2. Must possess a valid driver’s license
3. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
4. Must adhere to the City of Mishawaka drug and alcohol-free policy
5. Must be willing to attend educational or training program as requested
6. Prefer training and/or experience in plant mechanical and/or technical areas.
