El Departamento de Manejo Ambiental de Indiana (IDEM) ha declarado que Friday June 30th es un Día de Acción por la Calidad del Aire in our region for both Particulate Matter (PM 2.5) and Ozone.
Current air monitor readings across the northern Indiana remain high for particulates and ozone as the Canadian wildfire plume continues to move slowly through the state. Particulates and ozone are expected to be Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups.
Ozono
Insalubre para grupos sensibles
Ground-level ozone is formed when sunlight and hot weather combine with vehicle exhaust, factory emissions, and gasoline vapors. Ozone near the ground is a lung irritant that can cause coughing and breathing difficulties for sensitive populations.
Partículas (PM 2.5)
Unhealthy for Sensitive People
Anyone sensitive to changes in air quality may be affected when particulate and ozone levels are high. Children, the elderly, and anyone with heart or lung conditions should reduce or avoid exertion and heavy work outdoors.
