The Mishawaka Police Department formally announced the retirement of Investigative Division Chief Dan Gebo, who will be concluding his remarkable 27-year career with the department on August 27, 2024. Chief Gebo’s departure marks the end of an era of exemplary leadership, dedication, and unwavering commitment to public safety in our community.
He will not be going far though. Dan will remain an MPD Reserve Officer and will continue to serve the Mishawaka public as a School Resource Officer for School City of Mishawaka.
Dan Gebo’s journey with the Mishawaka Police Department began in the Uniform Division, where his exceptional performance and dedication were evident from the start. His outstanding work led to a transfer to the Neighborhood Enforcement Team (NET), where he continued to shine. In 2003, Dan was promoted to Sergeant of the NET Unit, quickly establishing himself as a leader with a strong commitment to community safety. His leadership qualities and success in this role earned him a promotion to Captain of the NET Unit in 2004.
In 2011, Dan Gebo reached a significant milestone in his career when he was appointed as Investigative Division Chief. Over the past decade, he has excelled in this role, playing a crucial part in advancing the investigative capabilities of the Mishawaka Police Department. His strategic vision, dedication to justice, and tireless efforts have significantly enhanced the safety and security of our community.
