Mishawaka Curb and Sidewalk Replacement Program

Curb and Sidewalk Replacements for Residential Property Owners

First instituted in 1986, the Curb and Sidewalk Replacement Program encourages single-family homeowners to repair or replace deteriorated public curbs and sidewalks adjacent to their property. The City of Mishawaka will split the cost of the repairs 50/50 with the homeowner.

All residential property owners in Mishawaka are eligible for this program. The program can include repairs to the following areas:

  • Sidewalk in front of the residence
  • Driveway approach (within the public right-of-way)
  • Curb adjacent to the street

How Does the Process Work?

Residents who are interested in this program can contact the Engineering Department directly. Staff will be in touch to determine if the request can be completed. An estimate of cost will be provided based on the current unit prices from the City contractor before any commitment of work is completed. The City of Mishawaka will split the cost of repairs 50/50 with the homeowner. Once the homeowners portion of payment is received in full, the Engineering Department will schedule the repair with the contractor to complete the agreed upon work. The contractor will contact the homeowner of their intended schedule to minimize disruptions. Once the work is complete, the homeowner and City representative will sign off on the improvements.
