Impacts: Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur. Additional Details; Heat stress increases with the number of consecutive hot days. The effects of heat are most impactful for more vulnerable urban populations. Summary: Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

Our Mishawaka community is very active. Between our 28 quality parks, St. Joseph River waterways, the Mishawaka Riverwalk and a bustling downtown area, you can always find us out and about. Our Mishawaka parks system is among the best in Indiana. New businesses and local restaurants and shops are added to our city every year! We take pride in our community spaces. They are where we experience life alongside one another.

Safety is Our Priority

There is no service provided by local government more vital than Public Safety. Here in Mishawaka, it’s priority number one. Fundamental to being a livable city is safety and security. The safety and security of our residents are our utmost priority, and we will do whatever it takes to prevent crime and violence in any form!

A Growing Community

We are proud that, on a year-to-year basis, our Mishawaka is performing better than any surrounding community. We continue to provide world-class services as we strive to be the “Best Hometown in America.”

As we look at the numbers, Mishawaka grew in population between 2010 and 2020 from 48,252 to 51,063 (an increase of 2,811). Although this is a modest growth rate of 5.8% when compared to the fastest growing areas around the country, it is the fastest growth rate in St. Joseph County. People want what we have and are moving here to be a part of the Princess City.
