Grateful Citizen Expresses Appreciation for Professionalism and Kindness of MPD Officers

Dear Mayor Wood,

We had quite an ordeal last night that started with a call from a stranger who saw a guy throw our cat, off the Mishawaka Ave bridge near Merrifield Park. Fortunately for us, he had thrown her collar and tag to the ground before throwing our cat over the railing.

By the time I got to the river, the witness had already called the police and that’s what I’m writing about.

I was really struck by the professionalism and kindness of the two responding officers and by subsequent meetings with the others I met who joined the search for the perpetrator. Genuinely kind and serious and compassionate.

In the end, our cat was found by neighbors from Park Avenue, the street behind ours, who had gone out in the dark with their kids and their flashlights and found her in the brush on the riverbank.

Please relay our gratitude to the Mishawaka police department if you can. Just so dang impressed by their kindness…. Mishawaka at its finest.

I hope you have a good day,

Patty
