The City of Mishawaka is pleased to announce that the Mishawaka Common Council has approved a new solid waste contract with Waste Management (WM), which will take effect on January 1, 2025. This partnership marks a step forward for our community, bringing enhanced waste services to residents and businesses throughout Mishawaka. WM’s commitment to reliability and sustainability will ensure a more streamlined, environmentally responsible waste management system for our city.
Under this new contract, residents can expect consistent weekly pickups for trash, recycling, and bulky items. This frequency aims to keep our neighborhoods cleaner, reduce overflow, and provide a convenient and dependable solution for waste disposal. WM’s approach aligns well with our city’s values of efficiency and sustainability, providing recycling options that are easier to access and manage.
The new agreement also strengthens customer service responsiveness. WM has committed to working closely with the City of Mishawaka to address resident needs swiftly and effectively, which should make for a smoother experience for all residents. Enhanced recycling options will allow Mishawaka residents to better contribute to environmental health and sustainability, a benefit that both the City and WM are excited to offer.
I’m grateful to the Mishawaka Common Council for their support in advancing these improved services. Through this partnership with WM, we’re making strides to keep Mishawaka clean, sustainable, and well-served for years to come. This contract not only meets today’s needs but also positions us for a cleaner and more sustainable future.
More news about the transition from our current vendor to WM will be forthcoming.
