JOB TITLE: Municipal Water Truck Operator
DEPARTMENT: Parks Department
SALARY: $10.00 per hour
HOURS: 7am – 3pm
DEFINITION:
Employee will work as an extension of the Landscape & Forestry Department to safeguard and support newly planted landscape and upkeep water needs for key landscape features such as hanging flower baskets, planted flower pots, and other key landscape features where irrigation is not possible, present, or sufficient for the landscape needs.
EQUIPMENT USED:
1. Truck F-150 or equivalent
2. Gas powered work cart
3. Hoses, powered water tanks, and watering cans
4. PPE
5. Tripod Ladder
JOB LOCATION:
Mishawaka Parks, Riverwalk, Municipal Owned Space
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees are constantly moving, bending, stooping, and lifting for long periods of time. High dexterity is required for weeding, pruning, and planting. Must have enough endurance to work in heat or cold for extended periods of time without rest. Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs unassisted.
ENVIROMENTAL / WORKING CONDITIONS:
Employee is subject to all types of weather, loud noises from power tools, dirt, dust, and pollen from plants.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
Employee will provide additional or supplemental watering throughout the Municipality and Park system for: Hanging flower baskets, planters, newly installed trees, shrubs, perennials, and annual flowers throughout the City from mid spring to early fall.
ADDITIONAL EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:
1. Working at Iron Works Plaza to keep Hanging Flower Baskets watered
2. Working at the MEF Community Greenhouse to ensure all garden assists are watered as needed
3. Assisting with special projects or special events as requested by Department Head
QUALIFICATION:
Must be at least 18 years of age
