Leaf Pick Up Schedule for Thanksgiving The Mishawaka Central Services Department will be closed Thursday, November 28th and Friday, November 29th in observance of Thanksgiving. We will move through the city in 3 days from November 25th-27th and will do our best to pick up all areas. Please have your leaves raked to the curb by Monday, November 25th. Once we move through an area, we will not return on your scheduled day. Leaves may always be bagged and put out with your weekly trash pick-up or taken to the Mishawaka Recycling Center, 1105 E. 5th St., from 8:30am to 3:15pm, Tuesday through Saturday if you are a City of Mishawaka resident. Please note that the Mishawaka Recycling Center will be closed November 28th and 29th.

Assistant MFD Chief Josh Jester Named Recipient of 2024 Michiana Forty under 40 Award

The South Bend Regional Chamber, inclusive of Mishawaka, is proud to announce Assistant MFD Chief Josh Jester as one of the honorees for the 2024 Michiana Forty under 40 class. This prestigious program recognizes young professionals under the age of 40 who have demonstrated outstanding professional success while actively engaging in charitable and civic endeavors within their communities.

Assistant Chief Josh Jester’s selection for this esteemed award highlights his remarkable achievements and contributions to both the Mishawaka Fire Department and the broader community. His exemplary leadership, dedication, and commitment to service have made a significant impact on the lives of those he serves.

The selection process for the Michiana Forty under 40 class involved a rigorous nomination and scoring process conducted by a nine-person committee of business professionals from the Michiana region. This year, a record-breaking 192 nominations were received, underscoring the exceptional caliber of this year’s honorees.

Now in its 18th year, the Michiana Forty under 40 program is presented by the South Bend Regional Chamber, in collaboration with its YPN South Bend initiative, area chambers of commerce, and esteemed program partners including the Community Foundation of Elkhart County, First State Bank, and the Mendoza College of Business at Notre Dame.

Assistant Chief Josh Jester and his fellow honorees will be celebrated at a Recognition Luncheon, generously sponsored by Beacon Health System, on Friday, May 17, from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the Gillespie Conference Center in South Bend. This event serves as an opportunity to honor their achievements and celebrate their contributions to the Michiana community.
