Reminder: Snow Removal Is the Responsibility of Property Owners and Occupants – With a winter storm upon us, the City of Mishawaka would like to remind all residents and property owners of their responsibility to keep sidewalks clear of snow and debris in accordance with Mishawaka Code 58-527. Keep Your Water Flowing This Winter: Tips to Avoid Frozen Pipes – When temperatures drop below freezing for an extended period, water in pipes can freeze, expand, and cause pipes to burst, leading to water loss and expensive repairs. To help prevent this, we recommend letting your water trickle from a faucet during frigid weather. A small, steady stream of water can keep your lines flowing and reduce the risk of freezing.

Mayor Dave Wood Expresses Condolences for Dale Freeman

It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of Dale Freeman, a dedicated public servant and cherished member of our community. Dale’s legacy of service, leadership, and commitment to the betterment of Mishawaka will be remembered and celebrated by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

As Mayor, I had the honor of witnessing Dale’s exemplary service firsthand, from his distinguished tenure as Fire Chief to his invaluable contributions on the City of Mishawaka Board of Public Works and Safety. His passion for public service and his unwavering dedication to the safety and well-being of our residents were evident in everything he did.

Dale’s impact on our city, particularly within the Mishawaka Fire Department, cannot be overstated. Under his leadership, the department experienced unprecedented growth and transformation, leaving an indelible mark on our community’s history.

To Tina, Dale’s beloved wife, and his family, I offer my deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies during this difficult time. Please know that the entire Mishawaka community shares in your grief and stands ready to offer support and comfort in the days ahead.

Though Dale may no longer be with us in body, his spirit and legacy will continue to inspire us as we strive to honor his memory and build upon the foundation of excellence and service that he so passionately established.

In Dale’s own words, “our best years lie ahead,” and I am confident that his vision for Mishawaka’s future will endure as we continue to work towards a brighter tomorrow, guided by his example of dedication, integrity, and leadership.

May he rest in peace, knowing that his contributions to our community will never be forgotten.
