Subject: Important Update for Mishawaka Utilities Trash and Recycling Customers As we transition to our new waste management partner, Waste Management (WM), I want to share some important updates with you. The official contract with WM begins on January 1, 2025, with service starting on January 2, 2025, due to the New Year’s holiday. If you have not received your WM bins yet, please contact me directly at matthew.lentsch@mishawaka.in.gov . If your bins have not arrived by December 31st, please let us know if you haven’t a received your bins. Rest assured, if you’ve already notified us, your bins are on their way. Holidays, supply , and manpower issues are causing some delays, but we are actively working with WM to ensure prompt delivery.  We believe that at least 99% of the WM bins have already been delivered. Additionally, Republic Services will complete the pickup of all existing trash and recycling bins by December 31, 2024 or soon thereafter. If your bins have not been picked up by then, please email me, and we will do our best to coordinate with Republic Services. Please understand that with over 25,000 bins being picked up and delivered, some delays may occur. If you do not have your WM bins by your next service day starting January 2nd, 2025, please set your trash and recycling out in trash bags, and WM has assured us they will be collected. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition. Click here for additional details about this transition.

Mayor Dave Wood Seeks The Community’s Feedback!

MEDIA ALERT

For further information contact Mayor Dave Wood at 574-258-1601 or Executive Director, Development & Governmental Affairs, Matthew Lentsch at 574-258-1635

Front Porch Friday with Mayor Dave Wood is scheduled for this Friday, September 13th from noon to 1:00 pm.

What: Front Porch Friday with Mayor Dave Wood.

When: Friday, September 13th, 2024, from noon to 1:00 pm.

Where: The event will be held on the front porch of the Mishawaka Utilities Business Office at 107 North Main Street, Mishawaka.

Background: Mayor Wood often says that the highest and best title in all of politics is that of “mayor.”  The job of a mayor is unique in American politics in that one can have a vision, develop plans, form partnerships, build coalitions, and get things done for the betterment of the community.

Since the services provided by local government are those most keenly felt or depended upon by city residents, a mayor can have a significant impact on the quality of life in a community far more than any other politician at any level of government.  Mayors get things done, but only when they get feedback from their community’s citizens.

Most public servants at the local level, regardless of party, get involved in serving, solving problems, and making a difference.

To serve the citizens of Mishawaka, Mayor Dave Wood wants to have a community conversation and hear most effectively from you.
