On Sunday, November 19thst, the Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council will deliver baskets to local Mishawaka Residents in need. The Youth Council is a peer-selected group of students from the area High Schools who reside in the City of Mishawaka.
The group placed food collection boxes throughout the City of Mishawaka in many of the city offices and departments. Collection boxes were also placed at Indiana Rug Co. and Arts & Elements. The students accepted monetary donations to purchase turkeys.
The group packed the boxes last weekend in preparation for the upcoming deliveries on Sunday, November 19th. Groups will be departing City Hall at 3:00 p.m. to make deliveries. Names of Mishawaka families were provided to the Mayor’s Youth Council by the Mishawaka Food Pantry.
Mayor Wood commented, “It’s the hard work, passion and community service of these young leaders that make a difference in our community. The Thanksgiving Meal is an American tradition for families to celebrate with each other. These kids make that special tradition possible for these families.”
