Mishawaka Utilities Electric Assisting with Florida Hurricane Restoration

Mishawaka Utilities Electric Division was asked by IMEA (Indiana Municipal Electric Association) to support with mutual aid efforts for Florida as they face Hurricane Ian. Mishawaka Utilities is proud to announce that we are sending one crew (4 Linemen) and two trucks (one bucket & one digger truck). They left Wednesday afternoon and will be staying overnight in Scottsburg, Indiana meeting up with other municipal utilities aiding in this effort. Early Thursday morning they will caravan together heading to their assigned staging area in Alabama near the Florida border. They will stay there until they receive further instructions on what locations in Florida are needing support after the severity of damages have been assessed.

With more than 1.3 million customers currently without power in Florida, we are very proud of our MUE employees who were able to make this commitment to help others in need knowing they would be working far away from their families over the next week or so. MUE appreciates our team that will be working with fellow public power communities throughout the United States. These crews all have left their homes and families to work in challenging, sometimes dangerous, situations.
