Nine MFD Master Firefighters Promoted to Firefighter 1st Class

Congratulations to the following nine Mishawaka Fire Department (MFD) Master Firefighters that were promoted to Firefighter 1st Class today at the Board of Public Works and Safety meeting, 1/23/2024.  This is the last promotion that is not decided to through a formal process within the Mishawaka Fire Department rank system.

Savanna Dennig MFD220 (C Shift Station 1)- Since Savanna has worked with us at MFD she has obtained new Indiana State certifications in Firefighter 1 & 2, Haz-Mat Operations and Awareness, Technical Rescue Awareness, Fire Officer Strategy and Tactics, Fire Instructor 1, Rope Rescue Operations, and she has become a Nationally Registered Paramedic.

Brandon Durfee MFD221 (A Shift Station 2)- Since Brandon has worked with us at MFD he has obtained new Indiana State certifications in Fire Instructor 1,  and he has become a Nationally Registered Paramedic.

Jacob Everett MFD222 (C Shift Station 2)-Since Jacob has worked with us at MFD he has obtained new Indiana State certifications in Fire Officer Strategy and Tactics, and he has become a Nationally Registered Paramedic.

Nicholas Johnson MFD223 (C Shift Station 4)- Since Nicholas has worked with us at MFD he has obtained new Indiana State certifications in Fire Officer Strategy and Tactics, Fire Instructor 1, Rope Rescue Operations, a Nationally Registered Paramedic, and has been approved by the St. Joseph County EMS commission to serve as a Lead Paramedic.  Nick has also begun the approval process to join the MABAS 201 district Technical Rescue Team.

Bryce Lake MFD224 (A Shift Station 4)- Since Bryce has worked with us at MFD he has obtained new Indiana State certifications in Driver Operator General, Fire Officer Strategy and Tactics, Fire Instructor 1, Rope Rescue Operations, and he has become a Nationally Registered Paramedic.  Bryce has also begun the approval process to join the MABAS 201 district Technical Rescue Team.

TJ Longacre MFD225 (B Shift Station 3)- Since Tj has worked with us at MFD he has obtained new Indiana State certifications in Fire Officer Strategy and Tactics, Fire Instructor 1, and he has been approved by the St. Joesph County EMS Commission to serve as a Lead Paramedic.   Tj currently serves as a department IT Specialist and has also begun the approval process to join the MABAS 201 district Technical Rescue Team.

Paul McGowan MFD226 (B Shift Station 4)- Since Paul has worked with us at MFD he has obtained new Indiana State certifications Fire Officer Strategy and Tactics, and he has become a Nationally Registered Paramedic.   Paul also has recently been attending many classes on Lithium-Ion related battery fires as it is a passion of his and is a current and drastically increasing need for the fire service.  Paul has conducted many training evolutions on the topic to both members of the Mishawaka Fire Department and other area departments.

Andrew Sellers MFD227 (C Shift Station 3)- Since Andrew has worked with us at MFD he has obtained new Indiana State certifications in Fire Officer Strategy and Tactics, Fire Instructor 1, and he has become a Nationally Registered Paramedic.  Andrew has also begun the approval process to join the MABAS 201 district Technical Rescue Team.

Colton Wawok MFD228 (B Shift Station 2)- Since Colton has worked with us at MFD he has obtained new Indiana State certifications in Firefighter 1 & 2, Technical Rescue Awareness, Haz-Mat Operations and Awareness, and he has been approved by the St. Joseph County EMS commission to serve as a Lead Paramedic.
