Reminder: Snow Removal Is the Responsibility of Property Owners and Occupants – With a winter storm upon us, the City of Mishawaka would like to remind all residents and property owners of their responsibility to keep sidewalks clear of snow and debris in accordance with Mishawaka Code 58-527. Keep Your Water Flowing This Winter: Tips to Avoid Frozen Pipes – When temperatures drop below freezing for an extended period, water in pipes can freeze, expand, and cause pipes to burst, leading to water loss and expensive repairs. To help prevent this, we recommend letting your water trickle from a faucet during frigid weather. A small, steady stream of water can keep your lines flowing and reduce the risk of freezing.

Reminder to Solid Waste Customers: Timely Bin Placement Essential

Reminder to Solid Waste Customers: Timely Bin Placement Essential

The City of Mishawaka and Mishawaka Utilities and WM would like to remind all trash and recycling customers of the importance of placing your bins out on time for collection. As we continue and will soon complete the transition from Republic Services to Waste Management (WM), we want to thank you for your patience during this process.

All trash and recycling bins must be placed curbside either:

  • The night before your scheduled pick-up day, or
  • By 6:00 a.m. on the morning of your scheduled pick-up day.

This ensures that your bins are ready when the trucks come through your neighborhood. Unfortunately, if bins are not out when trucks arrive for collection, you will need to wait until your next scheduled pick-up day for service.

We understand there has been an adjustment period during this transition, and we’ve extended grace to allow everyone to adapt. Moving forward, adhering to these guidelines will help ensure smooth and efficient service for all customers.

To recap:

  • Place bins out the night before or by 6:00 a.m. on your pick-up day.
  • Late bins will not be collected, and service will resume the following week.

Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us maintain a clean and beautiful Mishawaka! If you have any questions or concerns, please contact WM at (866) 797-9018 or Mishawaka Utilities at 574-258-1630.

Let’s work together to make this transition seamless and keep our city running efficiently.
