The Mishawaka Fire Department is Excited to Announce the First Hiring Class of 2024

The Mishawaka Fire Department is excited to announce the first hiring class of 2024.  This class will consist of two firefighters of what could be more than 8 total firefighters to be added throughout the year.

Walker Carrico is coming to us from Lakeville Volunteer Fire Department.  Shortly after joining Lakeville, Walker contacted MFD about possible training opportunities so that he could achieve certification.  As a member of LVFD, Walker attended Mishawaka Fire Department recruit academy last year with class 2023-1.  Walker is young but eager for an opportunity to be full time in the fire service.

Eric Rajter is coming to us from Penn Township Fire Department where he has been a career firefighter.  Eric brings to us a lengthy list of certifications and experience, including the fact that he is an Advanced EMT.  Eric has served as a driver/operator with PTFD and will not only be able to work on a fire apparatus with MFD but will be able to immediately help staff ambulances as needed as well.

The men and women of the Mishawaka Fire Department are very excited to welcome these two qualified candidates to our team.
