Newly Renovated and Ready for You
Welcome to the Battell Community Center. We are located at 904 N. Main St. in Mishawaka. The center recently went through a major renovation, and we are excited to share it with you! Not only do we have a new and improved look, but the Mishawaka Parks and Recreation Department is offering exciting new programs for all ages and interests! Programs include sports leagues for ages 3-6, Zumba, line dancing, yoga, summer day camp for ages 3-5, and much more.
Built in 1900, the building originally functioned as Battell Elementary School, and building additions were constructed in 1920. The east side was eventually converted into apartments owned and operated by the Mishawaka Housing Authority. Purchasing the facility for $1.00 in 1982, the City of Mishawaka turned it into a community center that has become a thriving place for classes, recreation, theater, music and other arts-related activities.
Battell Community Center Auditorium
Our auditorium is available to rent for weddings, performances or meetings. A state-of-the-art sound and lighting system, including a 15- by 24-foot projection screen, is available for the further ease of renters and an enhanced audience experience. Throughout the year, the Battell Community Center hosts movie nights and theatrical, seasonal and musical performances that are open to the public. Teach at the Battell Center
