City of Mishawaka Fireworks Regulations

Firework Celebrations Rules

The City of Mishawaka Municipal Code Chapter 46, Article 4, Section 46-90 determines the times during which residents may legally discharge consumer-grade fireworks. This also closely follows the St. Joseph County Ordinance 92.15 as it relates to the dates and times when consumer-grade fireworks may be set off. The definition of “consumer fireworks” is defined in the Indiana Code IC 22-11-14-1.

In summary, persons wishing to discharge consumer-grade fireworks may legally do so only during the following times…

  • On the 4th of July, between 10 a.m. and midnight.
  • On the five days before and after July 4th (June 29-July 3; July 5-9), between 5 p.m. and two hours after sunset.
  • During New Year’s, between the hours of 10 a.m. on December 31 and 1 a.m. on January 1.

The fireworks must be discharged on private property and not on any public street or alley, in any public park or on any other public land within the city limits at any time.
