Mishawaka provides our residents with a high-value, low-cost service for the weekly curbside collection of recyclables, trash, and garbage, large furniture and appliances, and yard waste. Residents are now billed for trash service on their Mishawaka Utility bill and will no longer receive a separate bill for trash & recycling collection from Allied Waste.
The Fifth Street Recycling Center and the Household Hazardous Waste Facility continue to provide a convenient location for residents to dispose of tree limbs, brush, recyclables, and household chemicals. It has also begun accepting old computers, calculators and similar electronic devices.
Residents can view our Trash Pickup Days map to determine which day to expect curbside service. If a Mishawaka resident is going on vacation or needs to alert our offices of a vacancy at a property please complete the Mishawaka Vacation & Vacancy Form and submit it to the Mishawaka Utilities Business Office.
For an abundance of additional information regarding trash and recycling collection including rates, limits, and restrictions please visit the Allied Waste Services Information Sheet. Information about determining whether an item is recyclable or not can be found on the Recycling Program Information Sheet.
Yard waste reminders -
For years our trash company has required that Mishawaka citizens separate their yard waste from their regular trash and place them in separate locations for pick up. Allied Waste would like to remind you that this is no longer the case. By dumping yard waste, especially grass, into landfills it helps to produce methane gas which in turn helps landfills to decompose better.
Yard waste and regular trash will be picked up by the same truck and does not need to be separated in different containers or placed in separate locations.
