MISHAWAKA HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION CELEBRATES NEW LOCAL LANDMARK
The City of Mishawaka Historic Preservation Commission would like the announce the City’s newest Local Landmark, 124 S Race Street. The Common Council approved the ordinance this past Monday. The Outstanding bungalow was built around the turn of the century for James Clarence Eberhart, Jr, the son of Adolphus Eberhart a founder of Mishawaka Woolen Company (which became Ball Band and later Uniroyal). After years of use as apartments and businesses, the Sullivans purchased the home in 2012 and spent
three and a half years turning it back into a single family home. Both Bob and Faye Sullivan served the City on the Historic Preservation Commission. The purpose of a Local Landmark is to protect and preserve the historic character and value of the home
and to an extent, the surrounding neighborhood. More information about our current Local Landmarks or how to become one can be found on our website https://mishawaka.in.gov/government/elected-appointed-officials/boards-commissions/historic-preservation-com/
