2024 Fall Leaf Collection Program – Mishawaka Street Department
The Mishawaka Street Department is currently conducting its annual Fall Leaf Collection program, which will continue through Friday, December 13th, 2024. Residents are encouraged to rake their leaves to the curbside by this date for easy collection.
Mayor Dave Wood highlighted that, “This successful program has been a staple in Mishawaka for over 30 years, made possible through careful planning and budgeting. It’s yet another example of the world-class service that Mishawaka residents are fortunate to receive.”
Guidelines for Leaf Collection:
- Curbside Leaf Placement: Rake leaves to the edge of the curb. Leaves should be free of branches, twigs, stones, or any foreign objects, as these can damage equipment and delay collection.
- Avoid Raking After Pickup: Do not rake leaves into the street immediately after a vacuum unit has passed through your area. Units will not return until the next scheduled pickup, and leaves left in the street can clog sewer inlets or blow back into yards and streets.
- Alternative Bagging Option: Leaves may also be bagged and put out with your weekly trash pickup.
- Brush Disposal: Mishawaka residents can take brush to the Mishawaka Organic Center, located at 1105 East Fifth Street, open Tuesday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
For any questions, please contact Street Commissioner Tim Ryan at the Mishawaka Street Department at (574) 258-1660.
Thank you for your cooperation as we work together to keep Mishawaka beautiful this fall!
