Leaf Pick Up Schedule for Thanksgiving The Mishawaka Central Services Department will be closed Thursday, November 28th and Friday, November 29th in observance of Thanksgiving. We will move through the city in 3 days from November 25th-27th and will do our best to pick up all areas. Please have your leaves raked to the curb by Monday, November 25th. Once we move through an area, we will not return on your scheduled day. Leaves may always be bagged and put out with your weekly trash pick-up or taken to the Mishawaka Recycling Center, 1105 E. 5th St., from 8:30am to 3:15pm, Tuesday through Saturday if you are a City of Mishawaka resident. Please note that the Mishawaka Recycling Center will be closed November 28th and 29th.

Come To The BOOMING Independence Day Celebration!

Mishawaka takes pride in embodying the spirit of patriotism that involves community and festivity. That is what makes Mishawaka’s Independence Day celebrations light up like fireworks. Every year, Mishawaka hosts Independence Day-themed celebrations to honor traditional American celebrations mixed with Mishawaka’s local flair. Residents and visitors cherish these events and await their arrival every year. From radiant fireworks to fantastic local talents, Mishawaka celebrates heritage-honoring traditions with the people who make the community whole. This celebration is a highlight of Mishawaka’s summer celebrations. 

Mishawaka’s highly anticipated Independence Day Celebration will be held on June 29th, 2024, from 3-10 pm at Central Park. At this event, there will be something for everyone of all ages to participate in. Mishawaka provides nothing but the best for visitors and patrons, especially regarding cost. For only $15, unlimited play wristbands can be purchased for children to enjoy the festival. Families can enjoy crafts/retail from participating vendors, BMX bike shows- a foam party, face painting, Touch-a-Truck, axe throwing, and a Deka Race.  

With so much to do, appetites will begin to arise. There will be amazing meals provided by food trucks from participating vendors, as well as alcoholic beverages provided by Mishawaka Public House Beer Garden. While the community eats, they can also enjoy local live talent. Hey Annie performs live from 4:45-6:15 pm, and soon after from 6:45-8:15 pm What You See is What You Get will be performing. The Roosters will conclude with an encore from 8:45-10:15 pm before fireworks begin lighting up the night sky at dusk. 

Mishawaka’s Independence Day Celebration is a fundamental part of Mishawaka’s traditions. It exemplifies our community’s remembrance of American Heritage. Every year this event promises the unity of residents within our community. Through the extravagant displays of patriotism, this celebration embodies the spirit of independence that defines our city.
