MFD Canine Ice River Rescue

On January 20th at 12:15 Mishawaka Crews were dispatched to the area of Wilson Blvd and Calhoun Street on a River Rescue for a canine through the ice. Rescue 1 arrived on scene and found 2 bystanders trying to rescue the canine. Engine 2 personnel made their way down the steep riverbank and was able rescue the canine from river. The canine was warmed up in Medic 2 and turned over to the Humane Society for medical care and to hopefully find the owner. Thank you to the bystanders and Humane Society for their assistance.
