This past Saturday, December 7th, at 10 a.m., the Mishawaka and the community gathered to honor the men and women who have served our nation through military service during our Mishawaka Veterans Honor Day.
As a city, we have always taken great pride in honoring our veterans, ensuring their sacrifices are never forgotten. December 7th is a date that resonates deeply in our nation’s history—a day of remembrance for the lives lost at Pearl Harbor in 1941.
As part of our commemoration, we reflected on the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of the Greatest Generation. The Pearl Harbor display serves as a focal point of this remembrance, reminding us of the sacrifices that shaped our nation’s history.
In addition to commemorating Pearl Harbor, we also dedicated a new civil war battle flag and plaques to honor the brave Mishawaka soldiers and veterans who fought and died during the Civil War. This recognition ensures that their legacy is preserved, not just as a testament to their sacrifice but also as a reflection of the indomitable spirit that defines Mishawaka and its citizens.
Saturday’s event was not only a day of honor but also one of education and reflection, as we communicated these important stories of bravery and sacrifice to future generations. It was a moment to pause in gratitude, to salute the extraordinary contributions of our veterans, and to reinforce our commitment to honoring their legacy.
Mishawaka thanks our community for joining us this special Saturday, December 7th as we came together to commemorate Pearl Harbor and dedicate these lasting tributes to our Civil War heroes.
Together we proudly demonstrated our appreciation to those who have given so much to protect the freedoms we hold dear.
