MUW’s New Juday Creek Water Treatment Plant Strengthens Our Community’s Future
The City of Mishawaka has taken a major step forward in securing long-term water quality and supply with the recent completion of the new Juday Creek Water Treatment Plant and six new wellfields. This critical infrastructure investment ensures that Mishawaka—and the greater St. Joseph County region—will have access to clean, safe, and reliable drinking water for generations to come.
The $40 million facility, located on Veterans Parkway, uses advanced filtration and treatment technologies to remove naturally occurring elements such as iron, manganese, and arsenic. With an initial capacity of 8.2 million gallons per day (MGD) and the ability to expand to 15 MGD, the new plant is designed to meet the demands of a growing population and support continued economic development across the region.
In addition to improving water quality, the facility enhances system pressure and reliability, particularly on the north side of Mishawaka, preparing the City to better serve future residential, commercial, technology and industrial needs.
Thanks to the careful leadership and long-term planning of Mishawaka Utilities Water Division and City leaders, Mishawaka is positioned as a model for infrastructure resilience and sustainability. This project secures not just today’s needs but lays a strong foundation for the future of Mishawaka and Northeast St. Joseph County.
