City of Mishawaka Power Outage Update; Date: 3/31/2025 In the wake of yesterday’s powerful and unprecedented storm, Mishawaka experienced approximately 10,000 power outages. We are pleased to report that as of this afternoon, the Mishawaka Utility Electric (MUE) team has successfully restored power to more than 9,700 consumers within the City of Mishawaka.  A big thank you goes out to the MUE professionals and tireless work! This morning, MUE reached out to the Indiana Municipal Electric Association (IMEA) for mutual aid, and we have since welcomed three additional crews of skilled 12 electric linemen to support our restoration efforts (including 5 bucket trucks, 3 digger trucks and other additional equipment). These mutual aid crews are currently working alongside our MUE teams in the areas hardest hit by the storm. While we are unable to provide an exact timeline for when power will be fully restored in all affected areas, please be assured that our combined teams will continue to work tirelessly until every customer is back online. Special thanks also go out to our Central Services and to the MFP and MPD for addressing all of the safety and security issues. We appreciate the patience and understanding of our community during this challenging time and will continue to provide updates as our work progresses.

Open House – New City Hall / Municipal Building

The public is invited to an Open House of Mishawaka’s new City Hall / Municipal Building

When:  Thursday, October 27, 2022 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm

Where:  Mishawaka City Hall, 100 Lincolnway West

After a major renovation, the former Liberty Mutual Insurance building; has become the new home to Mishawaka’s City Hall, Mishawaka Police Department, and Mishawaka Utilities Business Office. The move is taking Mishawaka’s central hub for local government from east of downtown to smack in the middle of downtown.

This has put many of our services into one building, centrally located, which makes it more convenient for our citizens to access our services, and it’s also an opportunity for us to most effectively offer our City services.

The Police Station provides us major new capabilities such as a crime lab, new evidence processing standards and a command center full of technology where we can run a scene or natural disaster event from a secure location with redundant power feed. The building was designed to be forward looking and able to meet the department’s expanding needs for decades to come.
