City of Mishawaka Power Outage Update; Date: 4/1/2025; Update on Power Restoration:Power has been restored for 95% of our consumers following the recent storm. Our teams, along with five additional Hoosier Edison crews via our mutual aid agreement with IMEA, are working hard in the hardest-hit areas. We’re rebuilding damaged infrastructure and coordinating with tree-removal experts to clear obstructions. Safety remains our priority, and we’re doing everything possible to restore power quickly. What: Mishawaka Mayor Dave Wood and members of the Mishawaka Parks community will celebrate the newly constructed and unique identity for Crawford Park with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The parks new image thematically creates a “Nature Park” that will include man-made constructed wetlands.

The park will also feature an active play area for children and a neighborhood lawn area for open play and special events. The newly improved Crawford Park will also feature a new restroom building and three new picnic shelters/pavilions and there will be a new small off-street parking lot added.

Background: The New Crawford Park will establish a new and unique identity and will be unlike any other city park. The new and improved park will include a natural aesthetic and man-made constructed wetlands that feature a walkway.

The wetlands will separate the walkway from the new play area and water element for children. The play area will feature inclusive components for children of any ability. The park will also have a lawn area with enough space for concerts or public events. There will also be a new restroom building adjacent to the play area that would also be convenient for visitors to the Shiojiri Niwa Japanese Garden across the street.

Along with that there will be three new picnic shelters/pavilions and there will be a new small off-street parking lot added at Niles Avenue south of the intersection of Linden Avenue to better meet the parking requirements for the proposed activities.
