Three of our MFD firefighters, alongside others from our region including South Bend and Goshen, have been deployed as part of a swift water rescue team to North Carolina. They are responding to the projected flash flooding caused by Hurricane Helene, ready to assist communities in desperate need. In addition, Mishawaka Utilities electric division has sent a crew of five dedicated team members and two utility trucks as part of a mutual aid effort to assist in the response to Hurricane Helene. Upcoming: Grand-Reopening of Rose Park!

Amidst all the summer vibrance within the community, the Mishawaka Parks Department has been implementing new ways to incorporate togetherness and unity for citizens of all ages during this vivid season. The patrons of Mishawaka are always actively working to uphold the promise of excellence for the city, and the enhancement of Rose Park will be a fundamental addition to the upkeep of that promise. 

The grand reveal of phase one of Rose Park will be on July 9th, 2024, and in celebration of the newly improved park, the Parks Department will be hosting a ribbon-cutting from 1-2 pm at 1501 South West Street. In addition to the grand reopening, there will be free Kona Ice for citizens in attendance! 

Phil Blasko and the Parks and Recreation Staff have been working diligently to execute phase one of the Rose Park reopening. Phase one will include an outdoor activity for every age group to enjoy! Phase one of Rose Park features a playground for children to connect with others, walking paths for adults and families to explore, a splash pad to cool off, a pavilion, and a gazebo. 

Phase one of Rose Park will be a vast addition to Mishawaka Parks. The city of Mishawaka performs to improve the quality of life for the community, and Rose Park has something to offer for all ages. The reopening will ensure the enrichment of recreational opportunities, which will provide community engagement. Phase one of Rose Park is just the beginning. Once completed, Rose Park will promote a stronger sense of community for years to come.
