Welcoming a New Officer to the Mishawaka Police Department

By Matt Lentsch

Today, the City of Mishawaka is proud to welcome Tyler Murphy as the newest Probationary Patrol Officer with the Mishawaka Police Department. Officer Murphy is joining MPD as a lateral transfer from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office, bringing with him five years of valuable law enforcement experience and a strong commitment to public service.

Before serving in Elkhart County, Tyler honorably served our country as a Military Police Officer in the Army National Guard from 2015 to 2021. His background demonstrates a deep dedication to protecting others—both at home and abroad.

Tyler’s experience, discipline, and community-oriented approach will be a welcome addition to our team as we continue to grow our department and serve a thriving, dynamic city. In his free time, he enjoys sports, fitness, and spending time with his family—values that align closely with the community spirit we embrace here in Mishawaka.

It is with great pride and confidence that we recommend Officer Murphy to be sworn in as Probationary Patrol Officer today, Tuesday, May 6, 2025. We look forward to the contributions he will make as part of the MPD family, and we thank him for choosing to serve the people of Mishawaka.

Welcome aboard, Officer Murphy!
