As you are aware there is an odor treatment facility, Wilson Biofilter, in the triangle formed by Wilson Boulevard, Webster Street and Vine Street. This facility was built in 1999 originally and has been refreshed/rebuilt a few times since. The City is performing an odor treatment study to assess system needs in preparation for the next upgrade. The Study will be performed by Webster Environmental, a specialist in environmental odor treatment, and coordinated by Lawson Fisher Associates P.C.
The study will entail placement of air collection and pressure measuring equipment in manholes. While placing this equipment, manholes lids will be removed for short periods of time, up to 5 hours, allowing odorous air to escape into the atmosphere. Lawson-Fisher Associates personnel will return in a few weeks to remove the testing equipment. This should only take a few hours in total.
Weather permitting, the equipment installation will take place beginning on Monday, July21, mid-day and continue to Tuesday, July 22, 2025.
The westbound lane of Wilson Boulevard will be closed between Vine Street and Webster Street to allow access at a manhole in pavement adjacent to the BioFilter on Tuesday, July 22, beginning around 8 a.m. Traffic will be directed to use Vine Street.
