Update: Power Restoration Progress in Mishawaka

We are pleased to report that power has been restored for 95% of our over 10,000 MUE consumers following the unprecedented storm. However, we recognize that much work remains to bring every home and business back online.

This morning, our MUE lineman crews began working with a total now of five crews from Hoosier Edison through a mutual aid agreement with the Indiana Municipal Electric Association (IMEA). These skilled professionals are now collaborating closely with our MUE crews to focus on the hardest-hit areas.

What You Need to Know:

  • Ongoing Restoration Efforts:
    While significant progress has been made, we are still in the process of rebuilding power infrastructure in some areas. In locations where damage is extensive, our crews must replace damaged poles, lines, and, in some cases, transformers before power can be restored.

  • Tree Removal Initiatives:
    In certain areas, fallen trees are obstructing power lines. We are working diligently with professional tree-removal companies to clear these obstacles as quickly and safely as possible.

  • Safety First:
    The safety of our hardworking linemen and the community remains our top priority. Our teams are operating strategically and around the clock to ensure that restoration efforts proceed safely and efficiently.

This storm was unprecedented, and while we cannot yet provide a definitive timeline for full restoration, please know that every available resource is being mobilized to address the remaining issues.
